Your freezer needs to stand level and balanced on its feet to function properly. Try rocking the appliance from side to side or back and forth. If it is wobbling too much, your flooring or the appliance's feet may be uneven.
Use a spirit level to check the appliance's balance. If it's off, adjust the feet by reaching under your freezer and finding the two front feet. Turn the feet clockwise or anti-clockwise, until they are firmly in contact with the floor.
Your freezer needs some time to settle before you can start using it. Let it stand unplugged, in an upright position, for at least 4 hours to allow the compressor oil to settle.
You can plug your appliance in once 4 hours have passed. Make sure that the thermostat control is set to ON but don’t start loading food right away. Allow your freezer some time to cool down to temperatures safe for food storage, which might take up to 12 hours.
The ideal freezer temperature is -18 °C. Check the temperature inside the freezer with an accurate thermometer. Place the thermometer inside a cup of alcohol or cooking oil and put it inside your freezer. You can begin storing food when the desired temperature is reached.
If the freezer door is left open, the door open alarm will begin within a few minutes. You will hear a warning sound that will make you aware that the door is not fully shut. As soon as you close the door, the alarm will turn off.
Water freezes from the outside in, and the impurities inside the water are pushed towards the middle before they freeze. These impurities (minerals like calcium and lime) are harmless as long as you use drinkable water. Bottled and demineralized water has fewer impurities than tap water, so it will produce clearer ice cubes.
This is not unusual. The water molecules on the surface of the ice slowly join the water molecules in the air surrounding them. This is called sublimation. It occurs at a noticeable rate in environments with low humidity, such as freezers.
The outside temperature may prevent your freezer from functioning properly, especially if it is placed in a garage or somewhere outside that isn’t heated. The freezer thermostat will switch off when the ambient temperature drops below the temperature inside the appliance. In this case, your freezer unit may stop working and start defrosting.
If you think this might be the issue, relocate the appliance. To see the exact lowest ambient temperature your Beko freezer will work in, check your user manual. If you’re having trouble finding your manual, download it here using your product’s model number.
The best way to keep food frozen during a power cut is to leave it in the freezer with the door closed.
Beko freezers are designed to keep food frozen for 10 to 18 hours in the event of a power loss. This is much longer than what you might achieve with other methods, such as using cool bags. Keep the door openings to a minimum during this time.
To find the exact time your freezer will keep food frozen, consult your user manual. If you’re having trouble finding your manual, download it here using your product’s model number.
If the power outage lasts longer than the specified time, remember that you should not refreeze thawed food.
Every Beko freezer has a unique serial number. It is located inside your appliance, on the left-hand side wall.
