These mashed potatoes are velvety smooth, buttery, and just the right amount of garlicky, topped off with a hint of savory Parmesan that makes each bite even more indulgent. These aren’t just any mashed potatoes—they’re the cozy, flavor-packed kind that feel like a warm hug for your taste buds. Perfectly seasoned and garnished with a sprinkle of fresh chives, they’re the ideal pairing for all your festive main dishes. Get ready to make this a new holiday tradition!

Preparation:

  1. Place the peeled and cut potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt.

  2. Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer the potatoes until they are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  3. While the potatoes are cooking, place the garlic cloves in a small saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, until the garlic is soft. Drain and set aside.

  4. Drain the cooked potatoes thoroughly and return them to the hot pot.

  5. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher until smooth and lump-free.

  6. Mash the cooked garlic cloves and add them to the mashed potatoes.

  7. Add the butter and heavy cream to the potatoes, stirring until the butter is melted and the ingredients are well combined.

  8. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and evenly distributed throughout the mashed potatoes.

  9. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

  10. Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl.
