Stacking your tumble dryer on top of your washing machine is a great way to save space, but you need to make sure you do it right to keep your home safe. Follow this little guide, and you can’t go wrong!
Step 01.
Buy a stacking kit
First of all, you’ll have to purchase a stacking kit. These may be brand-specific or universal, but always check to see if the kit you’re about to purchase is compatible with your model of washing machine and tumble dryer.
Step 02.
Ensemble the stacking kit
Stacking kits will often come in pieces and may require some assembly. The process is usually not too complicated.
Each kit will be slightly different, so be sure to read the instructions carefully. Typically, you would need a screw driver to put the pieces together.
The kit is then screwed into place on the top of the washing machine. This creates a stable platform for the dryer and will distribute the weight of the appliance evenly.
Be sure that the stacking kit is facing the correct way on the washing machine and that all securing screws have been tightened.
Step 03.
Place the dryer on top of the stacking kit
Now it’s time to lift the dryer onto the stacking kit. Easier said than done, right? Don’t forget that appliances can be heavy. Make sure you’re getting help from someone and that you're lifting the dryer safely.
There’ll be spaces on the stacking kit for the dryer's feet to slot into. Align these carefully. You must also make sure that the feet are adjusted so the dryer doesn’t rock – it should sit level on top of the washing machine.
Step 04.
Secure the appliances
Once you’ve lifted the dryer into position, you can attach and screw any remaining securing parts. Check that both appliances are stable and don’t rock. Finally, you can carefully push the stacked appliances back into position, and then admire your handiwork!
