How to prepare your refrigerator for when you’re leaving for a vacation?

There are several steps you can take to prepare your refrigerator for your absence depending on the length of your vacation.

Let it be for short trips

If you are planning a short trip of a week to 10 days, you can leave your refrigerator running. Remember to purge perishables or items close to their expiration date. These items might spoil while you’re gone and develop bad odours inside your refrigerator.

Empty and unplug for longer trips

If you are going away for a month or longer, it is a good idea to unplug your refrigerator to save energy. Empty your refrigerator, drain the water tank if you have one, clean the inside of the appliance and leave the doors open to avoid any unwanted odours.

Take advantage of Vacation Mode

Many Beko refrigerators have a vacation mode that you can activate during long holidays. This feature turns the cooler off and keeps the freezer running. If you are leaving for a month or longer, throw away any food which will spoil, put everything else in the freezer and set your refrigerator to vacation mode.
