There are several reasons for your hob’s ignition not to work. Please see if one of the following will solve the problem.

Check for power failure or loss of electrical connection

If the ignition doesn’t work even though your hob is plugged in, the power may be out. If you press the ignition button but don’t hear the typical clicking sound, then this is probably the case. Check the lights and other electrical appliances in your home to see whether the power is out or not. If they’re in working order, the fuse that your appliance is connected to may be faulty. In this case, seek the help of a qualified electrician for repairs.

Consider problems with the gas supply

If you hear the clicking sound from the igniters but the burners fail to ignite, there may be something wrong with the gas supply. Check your hob’s gas connection, either to the gas cylinder or to the natural gas outlet. If you suspect something to be wrong with the gas supply, stop using your appliance and call a certified plumber. 

See if ignition nozzles are wet or clogged 

Your gas hob might not ignite properly if spilled food or dirt is clogging the ignition nozzles. Ignition may also fail if the nozzles, burner caps or ports are wet after cleaning. Dry the hob and the burner tops thoroughly after cleaning them.

See if ignition nozzles are bent or broken

Your hob’s ignition might fail if the nozzles are bent or broken by impact from heavy pots or pans. Check all the nozzles on your gas top to make sure this is not the case. 

Consider technical problems

If the problem continues, your hob might have a technical problem. If you suspect this to be the case, contact an authorised service agent.
