Why is the bottom of my fridge wet?

Why is the bottom of the inside of my fridge wet?

Pools of water pools inside the refrigerator means that there’s a condensation problem with your appliance. See if one of the following will solve the problem.

See if the leak is coming from behind the crispers

The water drain, which prevents condensation, may be blocked. Remove the crispers to see if the water leak is coming from this drain. If there’s a puddle here, this probably means that there’s a clog in the drain.

Try to unclog the drain with a plumbing snake (sold in hardware stores). Insert it through the drain, push it until it meets the clog and turn it clockwise. Pull it out and repeat this process until the clog is removed. Try pouring some warm water down the drain to see if there are any other obstructions.

Avoid opening the door too frequently or keeping it open for long

Warm air outside the fridge may be the main reason for water build-up. Don’t leave the doors open for a long time.

Check the door seals for gaps, cracks, or tears

The cold air inside your appliance needs to be properly isolated from the outside temperature. See if there are gaps between the door seal and the cabinet. If you find any, adjust the door seal by gently pulling away from the door using your fingers. For any openings that persist, you may need to replace the seal.
