  • 2 roasted red peppers, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 10 ml tahini
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 20 ml olive oil
  • 5 g ground cumin
  • 5 g smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
  • Optional: chili flakes or hot sauce

If you’re ready to bring a kick of bold flavors to your holiday spread, this Spicy Fava Dip is here to shake things up! Creamy fava beans blend with smoky roasted red peppers and just the right hint of spice, creating a dip that’s anything but ordinary. Think of it as hummus’s feisty Mediterranean cousin—a little more adventurous, a lot more vibrant, and guaranteed to wake up your taste buds!

Perfect for pairing with crisp veggies or warm pita, this dip is a flavor-packed way to start your feast. The smoky paprika and cumin add depth, while a dash of lemon keeps things fresh and balanced. For those who love a little extra heat, a sprinkle of chili flakes or hot sauce brings the perfect spicy finish. Set this out as a starter, and watch as it quickly becomes the star of the table!

Preparation:

  1. Rinse the dried fava beans and soak them overnight in plenty of water. Drain and rinse again before cooking.

  2. In a large pot, cover the soaked fava beans with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the beans are tender. Drain and set aside.

  3. In a food processor, combine the fava beans, roasted red peppers, minced garlic, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, and smoked paprika.

  4. Blend until smooth and creamy. If needed, add a little water (10-20 ml) to achieve the desired consistency.

  5. Taste the dip and season with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the flavors by adding more lemon juice or spices if desired.

  6. For a spicy version, add chili flakes or hot sauce to taste.

  7. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Drizzle with a little extra olive oil and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.

  8. Enjoy!
