How to get rid of dishwasher odours?

How to get rid of dishwasher odours?
How to get rid of dishwasher odours?

Since your dishwasher deals with all the dirty plates and greasy pans you throw at it, there’s little wonder why it gets a bit smelly. Of course, the best way to keep your dishwasher smelling fresh is regular cleaning but here are a few extra hints to help you tackle bad smells.

Don’t let dirty dishes sit inside for too long

Dirty dishes sitting in your dishwasher is often the culprit when it comes to unpleasant odours. Always scrape off plates and dishes before putting them in the dishwasher or use the rinse cycle if you model features this programme.

If you’re lucky, your dishwasher might feature a technology like Beko’s IonGuard®, which releases ions to neutralise odours.

Keep it clean

The inside of your dishwasher deals with food waste and grease regularly, and since it’s a warm, moist environment, it can be an absolute haven for smelly bacteria and mould. Scrub the inside of your dishwasher from time to time but take care not to use abrasive cleaning products. It’s also a good idea to run a self-cleaning cycle like Beko’s InnerClean program, which heat up the inside of the dishwasher to kill bacteria and germs.

Filter it out

Make sure you keep you dishwasher’s filter clean, as food debris can get stuck here and if it starts rotting, it’ll start ponging.

Beko EverClean™ Filters need up to 4 times less cleaning. A sprinkler system sprays water onto the filter from within, cleaning it from inside out.

Use the right detergent for the job

Always use detergent, salt and rinse-aid specifically designed for dishwashers. Using any other products won’t just leave nasty smells behind, it can potentially cause damage to your appliance, too.
