How to Clean Your Washing Machine

To keep your washing machine running efficiently and prolong its life, it's important to

clean it regularly. Follow these steps to clean your washing machine thoroughly:

1. Clean the Detergent Drawer

Over time, detergent and softener residue can build up in the detergent drawer.

Remove the detergent drawer from the washing machine and clean every part

thoroughly. Use warm water and a soft brush to scrub away any remaining

detergent buildup, then dry the drawer before placing it back into the machine.

2. Run an Empty Load with a High-Temperature Program

To disinfect and clean the drum, run an empty load using the highest temperature

program available, such as Cotton 90°C. This helps remove bacteria, mold, and

detergent residue from inside the drum. You can add a washing machine cleaner or

simply use white vinegar to help remove stubborn dirt and buildup.

3. Use the Drum Clean Program

Many washing machines come with a dedicated Drum Clean program, specifically

designed to clean the drum at high temperatures. If your washing machine has this

feature, run the Drum Clean program, and if you have a special machine cleaning

detergent, use it with this program to enhance the cleaning.

4. Check and Clean the Water Inlet Filter

The water inlet filter can become blocked over time, affecting the water flow into the

washing machine. Disconnect the water inlet hose from the back of the washing

machine, check the filter inside the hose connection, and clean it thoroughly under

running water. Once it's clean, reattach the hose securely.

5. Clean the Pump and Filter

The pump and filter collect debris such as lint, hair, and small objects over time,

which can lead to drainage problems and unpleasant odors if left uncleaned.

Locate the pump and filter (usually at the bottom front of the machine behind a

panel), open the cover, unscrew the filter cap, and clean out any debris. Ensure the

filter is not blocked and is free of buildup.

6. Run Another Empty Load

After cleaning the various components of your machine, run another empty load

with water only or with a special cleaning detergent to ensure that all residue and

remaining dirt are flushed out. This will also help eliminate any lingering odors.

By performing regular cleaning on your washing machine, you can prevent issues such as

bad smells, blockages, and poor washing performance, keeping your machine in optimal

condition.
